We’re in the homestretch for Christmas – and many of us haven’t even thought about shopping for those we love! So, I’m doing my best to help both you and me out this holiday season so that we’re not empty handed on Christmas morning.
Here are 5 thoughtful but quick gifts you can grab for your loved ones.
I’ve given suggestions of specific products here, but hopefully you’re able to go out and find something that works perfectly at a store close to you! (A quick note: Simply click on the picture that goes with each suggestion to be directed to the site where you can purchase that particular product…)
1. Apron + Oven Mitts
Even though my husband does most of the cooking, I still love a good apron and oven mitts to make me look like I’m working in the kitchen. Aprons are pretty popular right now, but my favorite place to find coordinating oven mitts and aprons is from Anthropologie. Even though I don’t wear aprons that often (because I’m rarely cooking!) I like the way they look hanging in my kitchen!
Sleeping is my favorite part of most of my days, but I also enjoy looking cute (even early in the morning) and I don’t think I’m the only girl that feels this way! A cute pair of pajamas will make sleeping that much better and will definitely be a loved and well used gift.
3. The Art of Calligraphy
OK, so this gift is going to be for a specific woman – but I know lots of women that would enjoy this, so I kept it on this list! Why not get her a calligraphy book as well as the supplies needed to get it started?
In case you’re not sure even what I’m talking about, basically, calligraphy is the trained ability to write really fancy – fancier than cursive. This isn’t a skill every woman wants to learn, but it can definitely be useful…
– Engaged? Use your own calligraphy skills to address your escort cards and wedding invitations!
– Own a home? Use calligraphy to write out quotes to hang in your home.
– Have friends? Write their name beautifully and make them feel special.
…The options are endless!
(Not to mention, being able to write super fancy is impressive to all!)
I have not purchased this book yet, but my sister has, and wow has she gotten good! Maybe if you think this is a good gift for the woman you’re shopping for you can pick her up a book or sign her up for a calligraphy class in your area!
4. 2014 Calendar / Planner
Some women want something a little more practical. I prefer good design paired with function – so if you have an organized woman in your life, how about getting her a 2014 calendar or planner? Some of the calendars below are more functional than others, but I’m sure you can find the perfect fit!
I know this has made it onto a gift guide from me in the past, but I just couldn’t resist. There’s not much in life that I love more than a mani/pedi. Throw in a massage or facial with that? I’m yours forever.
This would be an amazing gift for a hard working mom that deserves some time for herself.
Now that we’re done with the women, let’s move on to the men…
1. Favorite Team’s Paraphernalia
If the man you’re shopping for has a favorite “team”, this is a gift that can’t go wrong. There are lots of options out there, so search for something he’ll love!
If you’re shopping for someone that’s not super interested in sports (like my dad) another great alternative would be getting him a t-shirt, album or book by his favorite band or artist.
2. Timex Weekender
This is a classic watch, that you can get very inexpensively at Target! I want one for myself!
The majority of my guy friends (some of my girl friends too) have this watch, and it’s a great addition to their wardrobe that they will get a lot of use out of. Also, the straps are interchangeable so they can get more variety and switch up the colors as needed.
If I put it on there for the women, I had to put it on there for men!
Who doesn’t love being comfortable when they sleep and lounge around the house, especially around Christmas time?
4. Tool Set
I know, I know, tools are such generic gift for men – but it’s because they love them! My husband and I recently bought a house so I like getting him tools that will help complete the next project I’m going to give him!
If you’re not sure what tools he needs, maybe get him a gift card to Home Depot or Lowe’s, or ask a close friend of his to give you some recommendations.
5. Goruck Challenge
This might sound crazy, but if your man is adventurous, he will love it. Let me explain…
Have you ever heard of the “Tough Mudder”? Well, this is sort of like that event – but way more intense. The details of the event are kept under wraps so it’s difficult to explain, but it was created by veterans and is an all day challenge (around 10 hours) that takes you on a “tour” of your city. During your tour (which starts at night and goes until the morning) you are taking part in military challenges – all while carrying an extremely heavy pack on your back – if you aren’t carrying enough stuff they’ll fill the rest with bricks to make it heavy enough! I read one person’s review on the event and he said they tell you to bring $20 to take a taxi – if you can’t finish, you have to call the cab! Tough stuff…
I can’t say I would personally call being registered for this event a “gift”, but I’m still thinking of the perfect person I could “give” this event to. Click here to find an event near you!
I hope some of these gift ideas get your mind going and help you to find the perfect gift for your loved one before Christmas next week.
Good luck and Merry Christmas!
