Last Minute Summer Bucket List

Hey Lovelies,

It’s your Lovely adventurer checking in. This year, I made a goal to have an adventure at least once a month. I’ve been spelunking, seen snow, gone late night kayaking, enjoyed amazing cheesecake at a dive restaurant, and gleaned fresh blueberries. All of these adventures have one thing in common- I did them with friends I made through The Lovely Project!

With summer coming to a close, I wanted to share a few ideas for some last minute budget friendly fun!

  1. See a movie at the drive-in:

I did this as a kid, but wanted to enjoy the experience as an adult. The tickets are way cheaper than going to see a movie in a major theater. Click here to find the closest drive-in to you.

  1. Wind Surfing Lesson:

One thing I love about living in Florida is that you are so close to the beach. Wind Surfing is something I really want to do. If not this year, then definitely next year. You can also plan other activities while you are there, like fishing or boating! Explore what the beach has to offer, find a local restaurant, or simply build a sand castle and take a swim.  Just remember to wear your sunscreen!

  1. Have a Barbecue:

There is always fun to be had at a barbecue. You can have one at a park or in your backyard. Planning games like a watermelon, or corn eating contest, watching a movie outside, and finishing the night off by making S’Mores (I like mine with Reese’s instead of plain chocolate) are just a few fun ideas.

  1. Watch the Sunrise/Sunset/Stargazing:

Being surrounded by the beautiful colors of the sunrise/sunset are some of my most favorite moments. Take photos and bring other lovelies with you! Afterwards you all can watch the stars come out. There’s nothing quite like sitting under the stars with friends.  I recommend bringing bug spray because we live in Florida and mosquitoes are everywhere.

  1. Go to a park:

Recently I went with some Lovelies to a park in Orlando. We took photos, ate lunch, watched the animals in the lake and laughed until it was time to go home. I loved spending time with them and made memories that I will remember forever!

  1. Go kayaking or canoeing:

One of my favorite activities is canoeing.  On my last river adventure, we took pictures and sang songs about water. We docked the boats and had a picnic for lunch. Also, it is a great way to get cardio in!

  7. Go Camping or Glamping:

I have always loved camping because you can do so much at the campground like biking, canoeing, fishing or hiking. It also gives you the chance to get away from technology and enjoy the world around you. Recently, I went camping with some lovely girls and we sat around the table and talked about our favorite adventures or things that we have done in the past. We shared our stories, laughed and cried. If you are not the outdoors type, I suggest Glamping, or Glamorous Camping. If sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag is not your idea of fun, I’d recommend this option. You can stay in a cabin, motor home, boat house or a beautiful tent like the ones found on this site: https://glampinghub.com/ ( A girl can dream, right?)

  1. Plan a day trip to a city:

Getting out of your city can be full of adventures. Riding a train or taking a car full of Lovelies to a city nearby is so much fun. Mount Dora, Jacksonville, Tampa, St. Augustine, Sarasota, Gainesville, and Savannah are just some of the places I’ve explored. You can find things to do by looking in the local newspapers online.

What’s on your last minute summer bucket list? I recommend planning an adventure (big or small) at least once a month! Remember it is not about how far you go, but about the memories you create!  Grab your girls and GO!
